I LOVE

One day I saw a poster in the street. It said, “You are what you eat!” I thought: “No, not quite that, ‘I am what I love’”. In the course of her Life, every girl keeps falling in love with famous writers, film directors and artists. Well, if it is not exactly love, it is fascination with their works, characters, an identification with their personages. Such emotional experience can form a substitute for personal experience of one’s life, having greater effect on the inner world of a girl or a woman, than her relationships with real young men. Fading away, these fascinations do not disappear without a trace, they form a part of the personality.

The installation comprises 8 lightboxes made of plastic boxes for breakfast. The lids of the boxes feature my self-portraits as Van Gogh, Andy Warhol, and other men I fell for.
