Скульптура посвящена легендарному полету в космос 16 июля 1963 года Валентины Владимировны Терешковой, первой в мире женщины-космонавта. Ее космическими позывными были «Я – Чайка!», и в народе за Терешковой закрепилось это имя.
Чайка напоминает и ангела, и дельтаплан. Я выбрала для скульптуры дерево, так как оно имеет внутреннюю жизнь и способно оказывать сопротивление. Мне нравится этот материал.Он оставляет возможность ошибки, что необычно и ценно в век наступления виртуальной реальности с ее искусственным совершенством.

This sculpture is dedicated to Valentina Tereshkova’s legendary spaceflight on July 16, 1963. She was the first woman to become an astronaut. Her call sign in space was “This is Seagull!”, so popular tradition knows her by this name.
The Seagull resembles both an angel, and a delta. I chose wood for this sculpture as it has an inner life of its own, and it is capable of resistance. I like this medium. It leaves some space for mistakes, and that is incredible and precious in our time when virtual reality with its artificial perfection advances in every direction.
