THE QUEST OF POWER

South Siberia is so rich in historical landmarks that it deserves being called the Outdoors Museum. Last summer we organized the 1^st Siberian Expedition to collect ethnic culture material and visited Khakassia and Tyva with a group of international artists. The show titled THE QUEST OF POWER is based on the material we collected during this expedition.

Traveling over Tyva and Khakassia, we realized that Sites of Power located in this land and still worshipped by the locals were a unique feature and a magnet drawing many nations. South Siberia is a mysterious magic county of imagination in our project. Of course, the material world of ancient people was not limited to the surviving objects – most of them, which were made of less enduring substances, than stone or metal, were destroyed by the elements with the passage of time, and disappeared. Unlike the scientist, the artist can allow himself or herself the luxury of painting imagined worlds of the past reaching far beyond the boundaries of the visible.
