VOYEURISM OF ALICE GUY

This project is presented as a storyboard for a film. The heroine is Alice Abramovna Gay, a teacher of History of Cinema at the VGIK Institute in Moscow after the Second World War.
She has just moved to Moscow after losing her entire family and relatives at the front and in beseiged Leningrad.
Struggling to cope with the magnitude of tragedy that consumed her family, Alice indulges in voyeurism. Hearing the short original stories of her students in a classroom exercise and then by chance finding the diary of an unknown girl excites Alice’s imagination and pushes her to watching and spying on young people.

Her voyeurism is eventually discovered and draws the attention of her students. In further episodes there are unsuccessful and strange love stories. Not without disappointment Alice understands, that the world of her imagination, fantasies and dreams is considerably richer than reality. Her dream of unearthly fantastic happiness only realizes itself in “Gagarin”, a film that Alice makes with her students.

Scenes from the heroine’s life are executed in techniques of photosilk-screen printing, in a comic-book style. These are mixed with figures on cardboard representing the naked young men from Alice’s surreal mystical world. The third and last part of the project are images of fragments extracted from the diary of the unknown girl.

At least two or three comic pictures are to be executed as large color panels (30-45 sq. meters). The panels consist of glazed porcelain balls of different colors, standing at on some distance from the wall held by means of metal rods. These raster points at a great distance become comic-style figures. The principle that is to be used is similar to that of offset printing, but the colors are more blotted to give dimension and luster.
