MY FAVOURITE ARTISTS is a series of colored ceramic items depicting contemporary artists, especially those who deal with performances. There are such people as Marina Abramovic, Matthew Barney, Sam Taylor Wood and Cindy Sherman among them. The set also includes talented but unrecognized yet artists, such as Elena Kovylina and Maria Chuikova from Moscow. There is nothing really special in my choice except that all these people made quite an impression on me at some particular moments of my life.

Although artists put a lot of energy into the performance, the action itself lasts just as long as several minutes or even seconds, and at some moments it looks like there have been no performance. Making a sculpture, I stop the moment and render it monumental.

At the same time high art will be turned into lowly genre produce. The project appears to e a sort of continuation of Russian national traditions. In the 19th century St. Petersburg Imperial Porcelain Factory was famous for its parlor genre figurines. In a similar way my ceramic pieces will represent little fountains, relieves and round sculptures where art life events are taking place.
